FAA Drone Registration Deadline Approaching

Midnight January 21, 2016 marks the deadline by which you must register your UAS with the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) to receive a refund of the $5.00 registration fee.  This registration applies to all UAS or drones that fall within the weight range of .55 lbs and  55 lbs.  Consequently, individuals who use drones solely for personal use must still register the drones with the FAA.

This registration process differs from the Section 333 Exemption required to fly drones for commercial purposes.  Should you need or desire to operate a drone for commercial purposes, contact one of our attorneys to discuss options available to you.
