In the first conviction of its kind, a California court has found an individual guilty of crimes associated with operating a revenge porn website. Specifically, a court has found Kevin Bolleart guilty of 21 identity theft and 6 extortion counts. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Previously, in December 2014, a California court found a Los Angeles man guilty of posting nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend online.

“Revenge porn” typically refers to the publication of private sexual photographs or videos by former boyfriends, spouses, or others of their former partners. The publication of the content often occurs anonymously. Unfortunately, there exist numerous websites that solicit such content.
